Companies

A company is a global system element designed to build a hierarchy of Users across different divisions of a single organization, to manage Users in separate organizations, to administer an integrator's objects and users, and to differentiate access rights to objects among Users in the system. A company contains objects, geozones, other companies, and its own settings.

Companies form a tree: every company except the root one has a parent company. A user has access to their own company and all of its child companies; the parent and sibling companies are not visible. See Roles and access rights.

A company has two statuses: Active or Blocked. If a company is blocked, users of that company and all its child companies cannot sign in.

Adding a new company​

To create a new company, go to the Add company interface and fill in the fields on the General tab, including Parent company — the company the new one will belong to as a child. Only your own company or one of its children can be selected.

A container with the same name is created automatically together with the new company.

In the Mail settings subsection, you set the parameters for sending email messages from the organization's address (domain).

In the Telegram settings subsection, you can link a Telegram bot to receive messages in the messenger about events and alarms occurring with objects. To do this, you need to enter the token of the channel to which notifications will be sent. The token (a long string of letters and digits) can be obtained using various open tools for working with Telegram.

After specifying a new token, you need to tick the Override Telegram notification settings checkbox to update the settings.

Editing a company​

When editing a Company, you can move it to another branch of the tree by choosing a different Parent company. The company itself and its child companies are not offered in that list: a company cannot be placed under itself.

When editing a Company, the Objects tab lets you move objects between your own Company and subordinate (lower-level) Companies: select the objects and click Move.

When working with Companies in the Control Panel, you can view all companies available to the user, or, by applying the Company filter, select a specific company and work with it.

Deleting a company​

A company can be deleted in two ways:

  • with the trash icon Trash on the right side of the company row;
  • by selecting one or more companies with checkboxes Checkboxes and clicking Delete selected at the bottom of the screen.

Only an empty company can be deleted. A company is not deleted if it has:

  • child companies;
  • users;
  • objects;
  • object groups that contain objects;
  • data in any of its containers — geozones, drivers, report templates, etc. (see Deleting a container for the full list).

Move or delete this data first, then delete the company again.

An empty company is deleted together with its empty containers, empty object groups and driver shifts.

When several companies are deleted with Delete selected, each one is checked separately: empty companies are deleted, non-empty ones remain. Child companies are deleted before their parents, so a branch selected as a whole can be deleted in one go. If some companies could not be deleted, the system shows an error window for each of them in turn: the company name in the title, and what prevents its deletion in the window.

You cannot delete your own company (the one you belong to): the system reports "Can not delete own company".

Containers​

The Containers tab of the company edit dialog lists the company's containers — "folders" holding its geozones, drivers, keys and tags, report and command templates, retranslations and notifications. Several containers let you separate directories within one company — for example, by branch.

  • The add button above the list opens the Create container window: set the name and add members.
  • The edit icon opens the Edit container window: you can change the name, the members and each member's rights.
  • The trash icon deletes the container (see Deleting a container).

Member rights are set the same way as on the "Containers" tab of the user dialog — see Users. Only Integrators and Administrators can create, change and delete containers.

Deleting a container​

Deleting a container requires the Delete container right on it.

Only an empty container can be deleted. A container is not deleted if it holds:

  • geozones or geozone groups;
  • drivers or driver groups;
  • driver keys or driver key groups;
  • notifications or notification groups;
  • report templates;
  • command templates;
  • retranslations;
  • commands queued for sending.

Move the content to another container or delete it in the corresponding sections, then delete the container again.

Container members and the container's selection in the Notification containers window do not prevent the deletion: they are removed together with the container; the users themselves remain.
