Glossary
Definitions of the System's key terms. Terms are listed alphabetically.
Access rights
The ability to view certain system elements and perform actions on them. They apply primarily to users, objects and geozones, are assigned individually by the service administrator, and can be changed in the Control Panel. A related concept is the user role — a set of access rights.
Action journal
A chronological list of user actions in the system — creating, editing and deleting entities, logging in, sending commands, etc. Each record shows the user, the action type, the affected entity and the time. It helps trace who made a change and when.
Calibration
Mapping a sensor's raw readings to the real values of the measured quantity using a table of "sensor value → scale value" pairs. It is needed, for example, to convert fuel-level sensor readings into liters. It is defined in the object's sensor settings.
Command
A request sent to an object to perform an action: take a photo, change device settings, block the engine, etc. The set of supported commands depends on the equipment and its configuration.
Company
A global system element that contains objects, geozones, other companies and its own settings. It lets you build a structure for different divisions or manage separate companies. A company has the status "Active" or "Blocked".
Container
A resource for jointly managing access rights to a company's shared entities — geozones, drivers, keys and report templates. Users are granted rights (view, create, edit, delete) over the container's contents, which lets you differentiate access within a company. See Access rights.
Dispatcher
An operational-monitoring mode and user role for working with the current alarms and events of observed objects: the dispatcher sees incoming events, acknowledges and closes them, and keeps a processing journal. Individual objects can be hidden from the dispatcher in their settings.
Driver key
A key or tag (see Keys and tags) assigned to a specific driver. When it contacts a reader, the system links the object's movements to that driver — for tracking shifts, violations and penalty points.
Driver rating
A numeric score of driving quality and safety, calculated from the recorded violations (speeding, harsh acceleration, braking and turning, etc.). Violations accrue penalty points: the fewer the penalties, the higher the rating. The calculation depth and the green- and yellow-zone limits are configured in the Control Panel.
Drivers
A list of people authorized to operate vehicles. If the equipment supports driver identification via keys and tags, the system can link object movements to drivers, detect violations, and keep a record of penalty points.
Engine hours
The total running time of an object's engine (or equipment) accumulated over a period. It is calculated from ignition data or an equipment-operation sensor and is used in reports to assess the actual utilization of machinery.
Event or alarm
Information about a change in an object's status. It is generated from data received from the object (sensor readings, location, speed, etc.): for example, exceeding the speed limit, fuel drain, or a panic-button press.
Fuel drain and refueling
Events of a sharp decrease (drain) or increase (refueling) in the fuel level, detected by the fuel-level sensor. Thresholds (minimum drain, minimum refueling, rate of change) are configured per object; these events drive fuel reports and notifications.
Geozones (geographic zones)
Defined areas on the map that are of interest to the user. They are used to control the movement of objects inside or outside these areas. A geozone can be a circle of arbitrary radius, a polyline (a street or route) or a polygon (a city or enterprise territory). Besides enriching the map visually, geozones can be used in reports and notifications.
Group
A set of objects, geozones, drivers or notifications combined by some attribute. Groups are used for filtering during search and for structuring the system's entities.
Keys and tags
Information carriers that uniquely identify their holder (a driver) or a vehicle. Identification happens when the carrier contacts a reader. Available for devices with a connected RFID reader or i-Button.
Mileage
The distance traveled by an object over a selected period. It is calculated from track points; the counting method and track filters are configured per object. It is a key value in most reports (total, working and off-time mileage, mileage between geozones).
Monitored object
A vehicle, machine, person or other moving or stationary object being observed. An object is identified by a unique code in the system (ID, IMEI) and has a name, an icon, information about its equipment type, connected sensors, etc.
Notification
Configurable delivery of messages about events or alarms (speeding, geozone entry/exit, sensor readings, etc.). Current alarms are available in the web interface and can additionally be sent by email, to a messenger, or via an HTTP request.
Odometer
A counter of the distance an object has traveled. In the system the odometer reading can be maintained from the GPS track or synchronized with the vehicle's built-in odometer. It differs from Mileage, which is computed for a specific period.
Parking
A period during which an object stays within a defined radius longer than the minimum parking time. Parking parameters (radius, minimum time, detection by ignition) are configured per object. It is the counterpart of a Trip and is accounted for in driving/parking reports.
Relay (retranslation)
Forwarding object data from the System to external services over a chosen protocol. A configured relay can be enabled (active) or disabled.
Report and report template
A report is a summary of object data for a selected period (trips and parkings, fuel consumption, geozone visits, violations, etc.) available for viewing, printing and export to Excel. A report template is a saved set of parameters (report type, columns, grouping, filters) used to generate the report again without reconfiguring it.
Sensor
Displays additional data coming from objects; it specifies the data source (parameter), the minimum and maximum values, and the type of connected equipment (ignition indicator, panic button, fuel-level meter, etc.).
Shift
A description of staff working hours: start and end times and working days. Used to detect use of equipment outside working hours. Multiple shifts can be defined.
Task and route
A task is a planned visit by an object to one or more waypoints in a given order and within an allotted time; it is used to monitor trips and deliveries. The sequence of points forms a route. Tasks produce completion reports with marks for arrival, late arrival or failure.
Track
The line of an object's movement on the map. It consists of points that arrived in the system in messages from the monitored object. Each object's track can be assigned an individual color in the object settings.
Trip
A segment of the track between the start and end of an object's movement (from leaving a parking spot to the next stop). Trips are used to color the track, count mileage and travel time, and underpin trip reports.
User
A system account with a unique name (login), an email address and a password. With these, users sign in, monitor their objects (end users) or manage the system (administrators, integrators).
User role
A set of access rights that determines an account's capabilities in the system. The main roles are User (an end user monitoring their own objects), Integrator (manages objects and users) and Administrator (manages the system); the limited Observation and Demonstration roles are also available.
